Nearly zero-energy building (NZEB)

In today's house and apartment construction, people are still the focus, but the topics of construction technology, ecology and energy efficiency are equally incorporated into living space planning.

Why nearly zero-energy residential buildings ?

Rising oil, gas and electricity prices as well as the obvious changes in climatic conditions are contributing to the steady increase in the proportion of low-energy residential buildings.


Whether the motivation for creating energy-efficient residential buildings is economic or ecological, the result is the same:

  • Reducing operating costs
  • Reduction of the environmental impact

As early as 2010, the European Parliament stipulated that from 2021 onwards, only NZEB (near zero energy buildings) would be built in the EU, which would not exceed 30kWh/m²/year (~10l oil/m²/year) for heating and hot water production.


Directive (EU) 2024/1275 makes the ZEB (zero-emission building) standard mandatory from 2030 onwards. This standard requires that primary energy demand is reduced to zero, fossil emissions are not permitted, energy comes 100% from renewable sources and the insulation standard is comparable to that of a passive house.

Passive house - building standard for the future

The Passive House is a nearly zero-energy building. Thanks to its airtight and highly insulated building envelope, combined with a ventilation system with heat recovery and adapted heating technology, the Passive House already meets the values and standards of the ZEB (2030) standard.

RMC: Residential buildings are predestined to be passive houses due to their reinforced concrete construction, highly thermally insulated building envelope, high-quality windows with triple glazing, heat pump technology for air conditioning, heating and hot water production, and ventilation with heat recovery.

Photovoltaics - economical and ecological power generation

Environmentally friendly energy from regenerative sources has become indispensable in new buildings today. Photovoltaic systems in particular, which use sunlight to generate electricity, play a very special role here.

The technology has been mature for many years and is a "must" for every low-energy house due to the ever-lower acquisition costs!

Generated from solar energy in a climate-friendly manner, electricity has become a 1A energy source in the heating market. Due to the low acquisition costs of the solar modules and power storage, electrical heating systems for passive houses are an attractive solution for heat supply, which allow a high self-consumption rate of the self-generated electricity.
